Join Tierra Desir for afternoon of tea and poetry at Discovery Community Garden 1 in Jamaica Queens.
Explore the various herbal teas offered in the garden while reflecting on the moments shared with new friends, loved ones, and local community members.
The gathering also features Odes To Common Things poetry writing. As your time spent with us ends, we will take a polaroid picture as a reminder of the day spent in the garden.
We look forward to sharing this time with you!
FREE event! All are welcome!
Meet Tierra Desir:
My name is Tierra. I’ve been a gardener at Discovery Gardens for about four years. Prior to that, I was both a youth leadership mentee and a volunteer to the garden. Originally introduced to the garden through adopting a tree, honored to speak my poetry at the United Nations as a Green Thumb mentee in 2019. To now, graduating into a Garden Community Organizer for my community. It ignites me to continue to grow within this community and now be able to cultivate a space for appreciation of the Art of Tea Ceremony here.
