About the Artists
Hadi Eldebek and Mohamad Eldebek from The Brooklyn Nomads
The Brooklyn Nomads is a collective of musicians from different cultural and stylistic backgrounds. With roots in Middle Eastern and Arabic music traditions, the group of musicians is exploring songs from different cultures in new ways and creating a listening experience that captures the joy and energy of our live concerts to make connections between different cultures and their people.
Hadi Eldebek is an oudist, singer, and composer based in New York City. Charting and exploring the world of contemporary Arabic music, Hadi has been actively collaborating with programs and projects for Yo-Yo Ma's Silkroad Ensemble, Harvard Graduate School of Education, The Kennedy Center, TED, Disney World Imagineering, and others. He is the active voice of many artists. Check out his TED talk here.
Mohamad Eldebek is a percussionist and neuroscientist in New York. Being deeply steeped into both the art and science worlds, Mohamad is industriously involving in the conversations between art and science, the human minds of creation, and the future of the artists. Check out Circle World Arts he and Hadi Eldebek started to make art more accessible through a network of arts and cultures.
Ines Sun
Ines Sun, artist and tea lover, creator of the Wild Lily Tea Room in Chelsea in 1997-2006, sole adventurist in the world of art and tea…She has incorporated tea and calligraphy in her installation, the teahouse project-TianDiChaWu, to explore how one's mind can be led to a higher consciousness through the ritual of tea and calligraphy.
During the pandemic, Sutra Writing Collectives gradually derived from the TeaHouse Project to make calligraphy writing more accessible during the time of change. The online Sutra Writing Collectives sessions are on Saturdays at 11 AM from 6/5 to 8/14. More info here.
