Winter Tea at New York Zendo

  • New York Zendo 223 E 67th St New York, NY 10065 (map)

Come share tea at New York Zendo before 2022 starts, and say, “Goodbye,” to 2021. We will simply sit and share the moment with tea. Let the tea and the time talk to themselves. We listen.

We will start with an informal meditation led by New York Zendo followed by two intimate tea gatherings overlooking the rock garden behind the zendo. The first tea sitting will be a gongfu cha service, and the second sitting will be a matcha service. Register for either tea ceremony or for both of them.

This gathering will celebrate the thresholds between indoors and outdoors and between light and darkness. Seated at the threshold between New York Zendo’s Ko-In-Do (“Light and Shadow Hall”) and the rock garden, we will share tea as the sun sets and darkness settles over the rock garden. Dress warmly. The patio doors will be open, and the brisk winter air will invigorate us and allow us to share tea together without masks.

2:30 p.m. Guided Meditation
3:30 p.m. Gongfu Cha
4:30 p.m. Matcha

RSVP required. Suggestion contribution is $20 per person for one tea service or $40 per person for both sittings. Seating is limited to 5 guests per tea service. ZSS Covid Protocols apply; proof of vaccination is required.
