Community Engagement Tea

  • Clyde Romero Memorial Garden 210 East 7th Street New York, NY, 10009 United States (map)

You’re invited to our first-ever Trashy Tea Party! 🍵♻️

Come sip tea with Lia Lucero at Clyde Romero Memorial Garden, spill ideas on how to keep waste out of landfills, and paint using ink made from food scraps.

In this special session, closing out International Compost Awareness Week, Lia will guide a conversation on composting and simple ways to reduce food waste in our daily lives.

Let’s turn trash into treasure—one cup of tea at a time!

FREE event! All are welcome!

About Lia Lucero:

Lia is a native New Yorker with deep Ecuadorian-Andean roots. For over a decade, she has been actively involved in community composting and environmental initiatives across the city. Lia spent her childhood summers in the highlands of Ecuador, where gathering around a fire with a warm beverage was a cherished ritual. Today, she brings that same spirit of warmth, joy, and togetherness to her tea practice. For Lia, serving tea in a community setting is a way to foster connection and stay rooted.

Private support is provided by City Parks Foundation and Partnerships for Parks through the NYC Green Fund.
